With 2,880 knots, Summer School captures the movement and energy of a school of fish, translating their rhythmic flow into fiber art. This piece marks my first exploration into hand-painted techniques, allowing pigment to interact with fiber in a way that enhances depth and dimension. The raw cotton cord serves as a neutral canvas, letting the painted fish stand out while seamlessly blending into the composition. By combining structured knots with freeform design, I aimed to create a balance between control and spontaneity—echoing the organic harmony found in our oceans.
